AGAWA CANYON.
The canyon is a 6 mile long north-south corridor between Miles 110 and 116 on the Algoma Central Railway which connects Sault Ste. Marie Ontario with Hearst Ontario at the end of the line at Mile 296.
To visit this amazing place you can just take a train. The Algoma Central Railway offers tour trains to canyon in the summer, fall and winter months; during late September and October for the changing colors and in December, January and February for the “snow train”.
Another attraction at Agawa Canyon is ice climbing during the winter months. The train drops off the climbers between mile 110 to 114 and the climbers usually have tents, or non-permanent shelters set up near the tracks.

Sit back and experience superb scenery and blazing fall foliage. The large picture windows will give you an exceptional view and experience of the vastness in this wilderness region. The train follows an incredible route through stretches of thick forest, colourful cliffs, waterfalls, over towering trestles and into fjord-like ravines to the awesome Agawa Canyon.
This natural wilderness park is maintained by the railway, and cannot be reached by any other means. A two hour stopover will provide adequate time to enjoy the beauty that surrounds you. Enjoy lunch aboard the train. Be sure to bring your camera for the breathtaking scenery.

The park has a variety of trails that lead to the most scenic spots, including four waterfalls and the breathtaking Lookout. There are plenty of picnic areas for those wishing to have lunch during the stopover or you may want to eat prior to arrival or after departure, in order to have as much time as possible to explore the park. Agawa Canyon Park is classified as a River Lowland Zone and the resultant plant community is numerous and diverse.
