Experienced cruisers know already which things they might need for a cruise, and what is not even worth of packing into a suitcase. Here are few tips for first time cruisers, to save your space in the luggage and take really useful items instead:

All weather clothes. Depending on the destination you are heading to, your clothes should one season only, unless you go to Alaska or Norway of course. There you might need the warm clothing, otherwise - Caribbean or Hawaii will never freeze you, so leave those jackets save in your closet.

Shoes. Yes, you do need one pair of going out shoes, which you are going to use in the main dining room or alternative restaurant. But you could always use one pair of casual sneakers, that could easily go both with a dress and a suit. Otherwise stay with the shoes that are practical and comfortable, because you are going to walk a lot, no matter where you go!

Jewelry. Try to avoid carrying jewelry on board, or wearing it outside in ports, as some of the destinations are not so safe, and you don't want to give your favorite earrings or watch to strangers right?

Extra technology. You will not have so much time on board staying behind your laptop or iPad, as even though there are days at sea, you will be busy exploring the ship and its activities. You are on vacation so leave your work at home.

Beach towels. Don't forget that a cruise ship is like a floating city or a hotel with all inclusive service. You don't need to take any kind of towels, as there are plenty of them on the ship, and each stateroom is provided with bunch of them, which are cleaned and taken care of by your cabin steward.

Makeup Bag. The chances you won't use all of those creams and make up tools on your vacation are close to 99%, so why should you carry the heavy bag loaded with stuff you won't use? Take only necessary and your favorite makeup, and don't forget the sun lotion if you head to Caribbean or Bahamas, you are going to need a lot of it !
