At night, April 26, 1986 the most serious nuclear accident in the world at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant happened. In terms of pollution, the world hasn’t seen any similar catastrophes, as well as the implications. The government tried to keep the incident in secret, but soon it became clear that they needed the evacuation of Pripyat, because the city is located just 2 km from the station. People were allowed to take all of the most valuable things and after 3 hours the city became a ghost. Nearly 50 thousand people will never return to their homes.

Varosha, Cyprus

In the past, resort Varosha in Cyprus was quite a promising place, nowadays it is a ghost town. Even chairs were overthrown as well as gloomy walls of unfinished hotels. The reason is simple. Territorial conflict between Cyprus and the Turks seized Varosha in 1974. Attempts to make an agreement about this territory failed up to this day. Today the city is covered with barbed wire, which attracts adventurers, though it is forbidden to enter there.

San Zhi, Taiwan

San Zhi was planned to be as a luxury resort, but in the end everything turned out very differently. The reason why it has become a ghost town remained unknown, and the city's history is shrouded in mystery. Perhaps, the city has been left because of the large number of accidents at the construction site, so San Zhi is considered to be cursed.
There is a similar city in Japan, for example, Hashim. It’s the miners' town. They left the city on their own, when they had run out of coal.
