According to the Chinese ancient history, the God of war – Guan Yu was a hero living in the period of Three Kingdoms and who has been the main character later on found in Chinese books. Historical records unfortunately miss his exact appearance, but it is believed that the God was wearing a long beard and was sort of a robust man.

The province of Hubei and the city of Jingzhou now features one of the biggest attractions in China – the colossal 48 meter statue installed on the 10 meter pedestal. The legend has been wrapped with 4000 bronze strips, glued to its main body and the God also holds a quite impressive axe, more known among Chinese as “Green Dragon Crescent Blade”, with a moderate weight of 136 tons.
