You may find this pearl on the territory of one of the islands, located next to Puerto Vallarta and they say though nothing is for sure, that this hole appeared as a result of bombing. For long time these islands remained uninhabited and in the beginning of 1900 ,they were used as a military base, so maybe the legend about bombing origin is not the legend at all, but a pure truth.

But luckily in the 2005, the Mexican Government proclaimed the islands as National park, carrying the name of Parque Nacional Islas Marietas where travelers can enjoy multiple activities by this natural miracle: sunbathing, swimming or kayaking.

If you look at the island, there is not even one sign of the possible beach and you will have to pass a challenge in order to get there through a rather long water tunnel, being the only connection of beach and Pacific Ocean. The tunnel has enough space and extreme travelers usually reach it by simply swimming or taking a kayak.
