Even The Nature Can Have a Depression, Especially If You Visit Ethiopia

This unusual Danakil Depression occurred as a result of emerging of three tectonic plates in Africa.

The Danakil Depression can be spotted in the region of Agar and is considered to be the hottest place on earth with average temperature of 50 Celsius during the day. You will never see here any rain and besides being the steaming place it is also the lowest spot known on the globe. If you are ready to suffer such a fantastic temperature,  you may have a chance to admire volcanoes and extraordinary landscapes here.

You might not believe it, but there are some locals in this area, mainly those who are working here – salt mining. There is a constant volcanic activity going on in the Danakil Depression which causes erosions and a number of various climate cycles.

Thanks to the lava flows, dozens of  lakes were formed in the area, while one of the famous one is lake Afrera – where you will see thick layers of salt on its sides and in one way it might remind you the dead sea. The Danakil Desert is located mostly on the east, by the Danakil Alps, where you can see the range of mountains,  where dozens of volcanic cones found home, and the highest one is known as Mount Ramlo.

The whole canyon looks like a scene from the fairy lake, with its bright colors, thanks to a weird content of magnesium, salt and potassium, which through the time created astonishing pink river sides.

Though the  pearl of Danakil depression is the Yellow Lake, where the water gets it colors from minerals. The best attraction of the lake is to watch how the gas bubbles come from underground and heat the surface, making illusion as if the water is boiling.  The name comes from Italian geologists, who chose the title  thanks to the red waters in the lakes, which in its turn change the bottom and make it look yellowish.
