The only way to explore the cave is by the boat and sometimes the area is getting so narrow that you have to hold your head down in order to pass!

Originally found in 1903, it turned out very soon that this is not only one lake but a whole cave system located below the Tapolca. So far this is the only one cave in Hungary which is equipped with lights and is open for tourism, but the lines are also nice, so be aware it will take you around an hour and a half to get in!

The cave has been listed as protected since 1982 due to its genetic, biological and geological values, and so far this is the only cave of such size known in the world which can be found just below the city!

The exhibition includes a brief history of founding accompanied with pictures and a 3D movie to keep both adults and kids interested and after followed by the cave boat tour. You will take a walk inside by stoned steps and explore 70 meters of the cave, as the rest of the areas are closed for visiting and dedicated to the scientists' researches.
