Church of St. Mark

The magnificent cobblestone streets and red tiled roofs of buildings in the medieval Upper Town of Zagreb, make it an ideal place to start exploring the interesting places of the Croatian capital. The most striking monument is the church of St. Mark, easily recognizable because of its brightly colored tiled roof with coats of arms of Croatia, Dalmatia, Slavonia and Zagreb. Be sure to go inside and admire the stunning interior with its statues of famous Croatian sculptor Ivan Mestrovic.

Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary is formerly known as the Cathedral of St. Stephen. It was installed on the site of a previous structure that was destroyed by the Tatars in the early 1200s. Also the strongest earthquake in 1880 destroyed bigger part of the cathedral, including the dome and bell tower. As a result, there was a huge reconstruction. 

Mimara Museum

Mimara Museum was created in 1972 to store works of art donated by private collectors. It is worth mentioning about beautiful collection of archaeological artifacts from ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Persia, the Middle East, the Far East, India and South America. There is also a large collection of glass objects from Europe and other Mediterranean countries. 

Art Pavilion

It was created for the International Exhibition in Budapest in 1896. After the Exhibition, it was returned to Zagreb at the big iron platform and installed on the current site. Known for its colorful yellow facade, it is now used for exhibitions of contemporary art and contains important works of  the  Croatian artist Ivan Mestrovic.
