Pink beaches framed by the shore of a small Greek island Elefonisi. The sand contains small particles of shells, sea shells and corals - they are painted in soft shades of the coast. The colours can be seen not only at the seaside, but also at a depth - thanks to the crystal clear water.
However, there is another version of the origin of the pink beach. In 1824, there were killed over seven hundred local residents as a result of Turkish attacks. Locals believe that the pink color coast is a reminder of the bloody events.

Papakolea beach on the Big Island of Hawaii (USA) is a unique natural phenomenon. Colors of the coast resemble the shades of green semi-precious mineral of volcanic origin - peridot (chrysolite). Its crystals are called "Hawaiian diamond".
Leaving from the beach, do not forget about the rule - unique sand on papakolea beach is protected by local law. Even for a handful of souvenir you will have to pay a fine. The color of the coast depends on the weather. On a bright sunny day on the sand on papakolea beach is so colourful, as if it is lit from within.
The beaches of the island of La Palma on the Canary Islands
Almost all the black sand beaches are of volcanic origin. In the water, lava cooled and crushed into tiny particles, gradually turning into the sand.
On the Canary island of La Palma there are two beaches with black sand - Puerto Naos and Los Cancajos, in an hour drive from each other. Coast is perfectly equipped: here there are children playgrounds, and restaurants. Be careful: the bright sun heats the black sand - and later in the morning it is impossible to walk on it without shoes.
