Etna volcano

The starting point of the journey is the city of Catania, which is located at the foot of Mount Etna. This is the best place in the area, where you can rent a car to go to conquer the volcano. Before the site, Rifugio Sapienza, at 1900 meters altitude can be reached by car, then everybody goes to the funicular at the level of 2500 meters. Another 500 meters up you can drive on a special bus, and then on foot. The main thing to be prepared for is a change in temperature. Upstairs it is quite cold and windy, so even if the day is very hot, you need to take some warm clothes.

Portorosa

It is a cozy starting point for yachting routes in the direction of the Aeolian Islands and the nearest to Sicily Vulcano Island. It can simultaneously moor up to 700 boats. It is in this port, where you can rent a boat. In addition, the Portorosa is the place of car rental.

Vulcano Island

Vulcano is a small volcanic island with beaches of black sand and fantastic scenery. Some of its volcanoes have long been silent, but one is still considered active. Unfortunately, you can’t reach it by car.
The main attraction of the island is a mud bath, where you can swim and beach in Acque calde underwater fumaroles. That is why you should go to the water very carefully and only in beach slippers, otherwise you can burn your feet. Feeling like the bite of a bee is not deadly, but it is unpleasant.
