Manarola is the oldest and one of the smallest cities in the five famous Terre. In the center of town there is the church of San Lorenzo, which was built in 1338. In the western part there is a small harbor, where locals often gather to discuss any important issues. As in many other places in this part of Italy, everywhere vineyards are grown, from which excellent wine is made.

In the tiny harbor of Manarola there is a parking for boats. Magnificent pictures can be seen form picturesque colorful houses, which were built right on the slopes of the cliff above the gorge. They like colorful unusual buildings of the famous architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Despite the fact that there is no beach - it's a good place for scuba diving and exploring of caves and rock crevices. By the way, special staircases are built for water access.

The main business here is traditionally a fishing and wine. Even in the times of the Roman Empire the local wine was appreciated for its excellent taste. In recent years, Manarola and other towns of the Riviera have also become very popular with tourists, especially during the summer months. The main attraction here is considered to be the aforementioned trail, connecting all five cities. It is sometimes called the path of love.
