The size of the island - about 28 acres, maximum height - 58 meters above sea level, is located less than a kilometer from the island of Anglesey. The nearest large town is the city of Beaumaris. The island is named after a living on it The Atlantic puffin. Since VI to XII century a monastery was on the Puffin Island, today it is possible to see its remains on the shore. Island is under the special protection of the European Union for the conservation of wild birds - every year scientists are coming to check whether the local winged residents live well.

To get there you should fly to London, then - by train (or plane again) to Liverpool, then by bus or rental car (a little less than three hours on the road) to Beaumaris. From there you can catch a boat to the island, agreeing with someone from local residents, or hit the road on a small cruise ship (book a tour here). The season for visiting is from April to October.

Here you can watch the birds. You can see Atlantic puffins, in whose honor was named the island - get to know them due to bright red beak. They go waddling or worn over the water at speeds up to 80 km / h, and can still dive into the water in search of fish, holding the breath for a moment. Also there will be a lot of guillemots, cormorants, razorbills and glaucous gull - a little white bird. Circling around the island by boat, you meet the dolphins and seals that live in these places.
